Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is right around the corner. Recently I got the chance to try out an early beta version of the multiplayer campaign for the game on the PS3. It looks like the same one gamers were able to try out earlier this year at E3. As awesome as the single-player campaigns and storytelling is for this game, the multi-player campaign is a lot of fun.
The basic scenario for the multiplayer mode is that you are the Templars and you are using the animus to train as assassins and gain their skills using the bleeding affect. You get a choice of playing as various characters including the Courtesan, the Priest, the Noble, the Prowler, the Executioner, and the Smuggler. Each have their own unique attack or special abilities they can use to evade or take out their prey to be assassinated. The environment is filled with NPC's in addition to yourself and seven additional players. Slowdown or image breakdown was not an issue at all despite this.
So far the graphics look amazing and the environments extremely tight and sharp. I'm looking forward to playing the full game and getting the additional multiplayer maps. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood will be hitting PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on November 16. And this will be the first Assassin's Creed game to have a full multiplayer version on all released platforms.

The controls are very good and the multiplayer map is sort of like a town square area in I believe Rome, Italy gives you a large amount of room to play around. Using a radar you have to track down your assassin prey without alerting him to your presence. Once you do, you take him out. In playing against other players, you have to find your marked while other assassins are also targeting you at the same time. I often died a lot as my opponents would constantly sneak up on me first. Luckily for novice rubes like myself, the beta also had a training mode where you could try out the map and play on your own for practice. If you alert your prey, authorities will start coming after you. It is important in this multiplayer to do your best to blend in with your surroundings. So you can't just go nuts and shoot everything in sight. When things get hairy though, of course there is always the nice convenient cart with a bale of hay to hide in. That is my personal favorite in terms of hiding places.
