Sony Announces Vudu On-Demand Movie Service for the PS3
If Netflix's library of streaming movies, TV shows, and documentaries just isn't cutting it, PlayStation 3 owners will soon have another digital entertainment option: on-demand movie service Vudu.
Sony Computer Entertainment America announced its exclusive partnership with Vudu today in a deal that will bring the company's collection of more than 4,000 HD movies to the PS3 beginning on November 23.
"PS3 is tailor-made for the high-quality, high-speed Vudu streaming experience," said Vudu GM Edward Lichty. "Now with VUDU on PS3, we are able to deliver a completely immersive experience to those loyal to their entertainment system when they want, where they want."
The Vudu application will be a free download from the PlayStation Store, and movies are priced from $2 to $5.99 based on how new they are and if they are streamed in 1080p. Vudu is providing a $5.99 credit to all first time customers, making the first HD movie free.
