Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Demo Downloaded by 2 Million
It looks like Criterion and Electronic Arts have a potential blockbuster on their hands. The developer and publisher announced today that more than 2 million players downloaded the demo for upcoming racer/chaser Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.
Available from October 26 through November 9, the Hot Pursuit demo gave gamers the chance to compete as cops and racers in two modes while also offering a sample of the game's new social network, Autolog.
In the demo's two weeks of availability, gamers compiled these stats:
-- More than 2M downloads on console within two weeks -- the fastest downloaded Need for Speed demo in history
-- More than 700,000 posts to the Speed Wall
-- More than 5M Autolog Recommendations played between friends
-- 54 million miles of road raced
-- 20 million cop busts executed
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is being developed for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Windows PCs. The game is set to ship on November 16.
